TinyIDS is a distributed intrusion detection system (IDS) for Unix systems. It is based on the client/server architecture and has been developed with security in mind. The client, tinyids, collects information from the local system by running its collector backends. The collected information may include anything, from file contents to file metadata or even the output of system commands. The client passes all this data through a hashing algorithm and a unique checksum (hash) is calculated. This hash is then sent to one or more TinyIDS servers (tinyidsd), where it is compared with a hash that had previously been stored in the databases of those remote servers for this specific client. A response indicating the result of the hash comparison is finally sent back to the client. Management of the remotely stored hash is possible through the client's command line interface. Communication between the client and the server can be encrypted using RSA public key infrastructure (PKI).

dbxbandmin collects traffic via ipchains/iptables/ipfwadm-rules and writes the data into an Interbase database. It uses Perl's DBI-driver and can be extended with support for various databases.

KSalup allows Linux users to receive and send popup messages to other computers on a local area network (LAN). KSalup is compatible with many other programs such as Microsoft Winpopup, Kurupop, Linpopup, Salup, and any others which use the SMB messaging protocol.

MilcovLib is a PHP library for CLI execution. It supports all of the typical CLI tasks such as parameter parsing, VT100 color output, and syslog error output.

matrixclock is a clock for Matrix Orbital alphanumeric displays. It's only been tested against the LCD2041 model and in linux, shouldn't be hard porting it to other POSIX environments though. It can show normal, Internet, and binary time.

perlPrinterInfo displays the most important
information from an SNMP-capable printer on a Web
site. The preferred vendor is Hewlett Packard, but
it should work with any printer which conforms to
RFC 1759.

Syslog Extract is a program that extracts syslog data from
pcap-formatted files or network streams. This should work in
any environment where Python, libpcap, and pylibpcap are
available.

Tecnoupman is a manager/monitor for the Powercomm and Tecnoware XP UPSes family.
Along with the software are detailed
instructions about the protocol used by the UPS.

VServer Context Quota extends the virtual server concept by adding per-context user and group quotas, as well as context quota itself to the Linux kernel and quota tools. It also enforces inter-context access restrictions.

Campagnol is a distributed IP-based VPN program
able to open new connections through NATs or
firewalls without any configuration. It uses UDP
for the transport layer, and utilizes tunneling
and encryption (with DTLS) and the UDP hole
punching NAT traversal technique. The established
connections are P2P.

Blacklist is a light script to make a blacklist system through iptables. You can create the blacklist and manage it through this program.

Xianc monitors data acquired from a data source
and saves it in a cache. This data source can be a
fire wall (iptables), a file, etc. The cache can
then provide a graph or numeric result; for
example, how much data was transferred yesterday.

Monjo is a Web application that helps monitoring a
small to medium network of servers. It offers easy
customization of notifications in case of network
failures and is designed to allow for easy
addition of new services that need to be
monitored. It's internationalized and includes a
Web interface in English and German. It currently
supports notifications by email and can check
services using ping, SMTP, HTTP, POP3, and IMAP4.

relaycheck scans a network for SMTP hosts that permit "relaying" of email. These servers are vulnerable because a 3rd party could come in and use the mail server to relay mail through the server for the purpose of spamming. relaycheck is a pretty crude tool, but it's fast and functional. It requires perl and libwww.
