tovid

This release features a new GUI for making multiple titlesets with tovid. It includes many updates and fixes for changes in the backends like ffmpeg and dvdauthor as well as numerous bugfixes. New libavfilter features from ffmpeg have been implemented, so the -quick-menu option now works again with a recent enough libavfilter and ffmpeg (0.8). Several new options have also been added, including the ability to use your own arbitrary images for thumbnail links. PNG is now used generally as an intermediary format instead of JPEG, resulting in improved picture quality.

This is the first tovid release in well over two years. It brings numerous GUI and command-line changes, bugfixes, and other improvements. The command-line scripts, manpages, and GUI have been unified into a single script called "tovid".

Lots of bugs in ffmpeg and other issues in this
release were fixed. A new -fit option was added
for specifying a desired output size. Interactive
-switched-menus was added for live thumbnail
previews in todisc menus. The -quick-menu todisc
feature was added for greatly improved rendering
speed.

This release has a new todisc GUI, but still includes the old one with improvements. There are many new features and bugfixes in todisc and makemenu.

This release fixes bugs with creating menus and authoring/burning DVDs, problems with widescreen videos getting cropped on some TVs, and the infamous "bad substitution" error on Ubuntu. "todisc" features new button effects and menu template choices, and better dvdauthor configurability. "tovid" quality was tweaked to produce better results for ffmpeg-based encoding, and multitrack audio encoding is now possible. The "libtovid" backend now has a Cairo-based rendering backend and a dvdauthor interface.
