Xenomai is a realtime development framework cooperating with the Linux kernel in order to provide pervasive, interface-agnostic, hard realtime support to userspace applications, seamlessly integrated into the GNU/Linux environment. Xenomai is based on an abstract RTOS core, usable for building any kind of realtime interface, over a nucleus which exports a set of generic RTOS services. Any number of RTOS personalities called "skins" can then be built over the nucleus, providing their own specific interface to the applications by using the services of a single generic core to implement it.

An initial ARM port was added. The kernel can now be built inside the Xenomai tree. Major bugfixes were made in the real-time threading. An update was made to Linux 2.6.15. I-Pipe support was upgraded and an RTDM-based benchmark suite was added. Numerous bugfixes and code cleanups were made.

This release has a reworked nanokernel now exhibiting a threaded interrupt model, a full-fledged VxWorks emulator, the finalized VRTXsa emulator, the initial implementation of an uITRON-compliant API, and a number of bugfixes in all parts of the framework. A new disjunctive dual licensing scheme (GPL/Clarified Artistic License) now applies to core parts of the Xenomai framework such as the nanokernel and the real-time interfaces.
