Automatic discovery was implemented to reduce
manual configuration of new frontends. Storage
groups were added, precluding the need for LVM or
similar. Multiple recordings are supported on one
DVB/ATSC multiplex. A couple new plugins were
added. Some new deinterlacing/video display
options were added. The mythfrontend memory
consumption was reduced by up to 75% depending on
theme and resolution. MySQL 5.0 is required. Many
other things were done.
Major changes this release include native Mac OS X support,
'timestretch' which allows the video to be played faster while
keeping the audio at the same pitch, major improvements to
DVB and HDTV support, Firewire capture support, and a new
HD/Widescreen user interface mode.
This release features major improvements to the MythVideo plugin, and many improvements to the rest of the application. A new plugin that can make audio and video calls is also now available.
A problem in the scheduler with respect to priorities if the user hadn't set input priorities for tuner cards was fixed. The video/image preview window in the select recordings screen no longer causes excessive CPU usage.
