KMail

Several bugs have been fixed since the last feature release.

Support for emoticons/smilies, X-Faces, KWallet, IMAP namespaces, and quick insertion of common phrases was implemented. Recipient display and selection was improved in the message composer. Home directory cluttering was reduced, as ~/dead.letter is no longer used. Numerous bugfixes were made, especially in the IMAP and message threading code. The program is now included in the KDEPIM package, and this release is part of the KDE 3.4 release.

This release is part of KDE 3.3, but can be also
installed on KDE 3.2. New features include an
antispam wizard, a filter log, quick search,
automatic mailing-list detection, view/open of
message files, HTML message composing, new filter
criteria (in address book, in category, has
attachment), cryptographic backend
auto-configuration, sign/encrypt keys separation,
per-identity s/mime key preselection, per-identity
cryptographic message format selection,
per-contact crypto preferences, listing of only
opened IMAP folders, and more.

Search folders (aka Virtual Folders) were added. As-you-type spell checking is supported. There is a panel applet showing unread message totals, per-folder duplicate email removal, drag and drop support of messages onto the composer, improved threading; threading by subject, sort stable deletion, numerous search dialog improvements, SMTP pipelining (faster email submission), and disconnected IMAP. IMAP messages are loaded progressively. IMAP attachments are loaded on demand. Individual IMAP folders can be checked for new mail. Ignore Thread and Watch Thread have been added. Messages can have more than one status.

PGP/MIME support has been added (S/MIME is also available via plugins), there's now an optional MIME tree viewer, custom folder icons can be configured, and OpenPGP support has been improved.
