Infobright Community Edition

This release includes enhanced query performance as well as the GA release of UTF-8 support.

This release migrates the version of MySQL that is embedded inside Infobright. Previously, ICE shipped with MySQL 5.1.14. This release updates that to MySQL 5.1.40 GA. The update fixes some previously-reported issues with ICE, and improves some performance and query syntax support as a result of improvements made to the MySQL engine.

Query performance was improved with enhanced cache management, which provides much faster load and query times, especially with incremental or trickle feeds. SQL capabilities were enhanced with support for STDDEV, VARIANCE, STDDEV_SAMP, VAR_SAMP, STDDEV_POP, and VAR_POP. Testing with MicroStrategy was completed, and it will now include Infobright as a supported database for the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 9.0. Support for "Named Pipes" on Windows was added.

This is a maintenance release focusing on issues found during the DML performance improvement work, and product changes for interoperability with the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform. Infobright recommends that any customer making significant use of DML in the product should upgrade to this release. The issues are difficult issues to encounter, and have been present since the release of full DML functionality in IEE 3.0 on September 15th, 2008. However, Infobright still recommends this upgrade to DML users.
