Emerde is a port of Gentoo's portage system that
installs, removes, updates, and maintains your
system rapidly and easily. On Slackware, it
cooperates with the package database and allows
you to install .tgz files directly using
dependency checking.

portage has been updated to 2.1_rc4, and debianutils to 2.15. The --maketgz* options have been dropped. A bug has been fixed in the --skipit option. It is advised to update to this version, because the new Gentoo's portage is not compatible with the old ones.

A Sync-cat script that lets you sync a single category or package with the Gentoo repository was added. runscript.sh was patched to handle net dependecies at boot by rc.emerde. A --pasive option was added to auto-install.sh to select FTP passive mode. /etc/init.d/runscript.sh is no longer launched from rc.emerde.
