Animenu is an on-screen animated menu controlled by Lirc, the Linux Infra-red Remote Control project. It uses the Xft library, if available, to create a translucency effect.

This release signals a move away from static menus; the first step is the ability to build a menu at run time from a directory, using regexp pattern matching. This allows, for example, a menu of MP3 files to be generated automatically.
