GatorMail is a Java Servlet-based Webmail application built on the Jakarta Struts framework. It was originally developed to meet the needs of the University of Florida. Efficient interaction with the mail store along with a low support overhead and simple, user-friendly interface are the primary goals of the project.

Buni Meldware Communication Suite is an enterprise
groupware product providing an email server,
calendar server, and a Web mail client. The Web
mail portion is written using Adobe's Flash and
provides a rich cross-browser experience. Protocol
support includes IMAP, POP, SMTP, iCAL, WCAP, and
more. It uniquely supports full database email
storage as well as file system storage of emails
on major database platforms, and is easily
installed via a Web Start graphical installation
process.

IMAP Calendar Proxy implements an HTTP proxy that
converts HTTP PUT requests of vcalendar data to
separate messages stored on an IMAP server. It can
be used with Mozilla Sunbird/Calendar to allow
storage of a calendar via IMAP.

Centaur is a program intended to immediately
notify a user when mail arrives. To do so, the
IMAP IDLE command is used. Thus, it only works if
you an IMAP account and your IMAP server supports
IDLE.

pwcheck_mysql is a authentication module for the
Cyrus IMAP server. Currently the Cyrus IMAP server
only supports kerberos, /etc/passwd and ldap (via
Clayton Donely's pwcheck_ldap module). Now with
pwcheck_mysql, you can use a MySQL database to
authenticate your IMAP users. This code has been
tested for many months and seems to work fairly well.

Rumble is a mail server suite for SMTP (ESMTPSA), HTTP, POP3, and IMAP4v1 with an extensive C/C++ and Lua API for scripting. It comes with support for SSL/TLS, SQLite, and MySQL and has a Web-based administration and Web mail feature. Additional included modules feature greylisting, DNS blacklisting, SpamAssassin support, and dynamic performance scaling as well as a multithreaded structure that allows for clustering of multiple servers for one or all domains. With the Lua API you can create your own new server mailing lists, CRM software, e-marketing, and other extensions within minutes.

spliff is a GUI mail watcher (written in Perl/Tk)
inspired by TkRat's Watcher utility. It will
watch your mail and display various header
information from your most recent messages.

poplimitd is a daemon process that monitors a server
maillog file for POP3 or IMAP connections. Using
configurable settings it monitors the rate of logins
based on the user account and IP address. If it finds
excessive usage, it will send a preconfigured email with
the users information to that user asking them to stop.
On servers that suffer from high POP3/IMAP load, this
can dramatically modify user behaviour and limit POP
and IMAP connections and load.

xmailheaders is a mail notification utility that
is based on the "mailbox" utility that's avilable
on Solaris workstations. The idea is that it sits
on your desktop somewhere, periodically polling
the mail server/spool for new messages. New
message headers are displayed as they come in.
Supported mailbox formats are POP3, IMAPv4, and
Unix mbox. SSL-based password authentication is
also supported for POP and IMAP.

chk4mail lists the number of read and unread messages in all the folders in your mail directory and inbox. This is especially useful to people who automatically filter their mail to several folders. It supports standard mbox format, MMDF, MH, Maildir, and remote mail folders using IMAP.

posterity is a set of read-only email servers for
making email archives publicly available. It can
complement or replace a traditional mailing list and
Web archive.
