CDRX is a menu-based Perl script designed to help you use your CDRW
with mkisofs and cdrecord to handle ISO creation, CDROM/CDRW device
scans and setup, CDRW blanking, and CDRW burns. It is designed to
supplant the need for an X-based CD burning utility, to provide
features not found in other Unix CD burning programs, and to be easy
for beginners to use.

digup is a console tool to update md5sum or shasum digest files. It will read existing digest files, check the current directory for new, updated, modified, renamed, or deleted files, and query the user with a summary of changes. After reviewing the updates, they can be written back to the digest file. This makes digup very useful to update and verify incremental archives like chronological data storages, which are commonly stored and backed up on hard disks. Using a full file digest scan, even slowly creeping bad blocks on old hard disks can be detected. By using a crontab entry, this check can be performed unattended and routinely.

The mkCDrec utilities are optional for mkCDrec itself, but are an added value for rescue and recovery purposes. The utilities are staticly compiled and include parted, memtest, partimage, gpart, and recover. Memtest86 is also available for memory testing.

SafeKeep is a centralized and easy to use backup
application that combines the best features of a
mirror and an incremental backup. It enhances the
power of rdiff-backup with simple, centralized
configuration, while adding support for LVM
snapshots, database dumps, and convenient SSH key
management.

Tapeback is command line software for backing up various
parts of a Linux system. It supports appending multiple
backups to a single tape as well as having a backup span
multiple tapes. Its backups are fully self-contained; no
"database" is needed to restore a backup. Restore point
redirection is also easily accomplished without complex
editing of config files or complex commands to enter at the
command line. The package also includes a small kernel
patch to facilitate real-time detection of "drive ready" status.
This patch allows tapeback to automatically detect when a
tape is switched in the drive (when end of tape is hit during
backup/restore).

Vbackup is a modular backup utility that can be used to perform full or incremental system backups. It consists of a set of scripts that can be used to create backups using tar and xfsdump. It can also make backups of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and LDAP databases, keep a copy of the boot record, the partition table, or the LVM configuration, encrypt archives using x509 certificates, and back up the Debian package list and the RPM database. It can store the backups in a local or remote directory using either NFS or SCP. It is modular, and can be extended to perform other functions as well.

File-Dir-Dumper is a CPAN module that serializes
the metadata (file names, file sizes, permissions,
mtimes, etc.) from a directory structure to a
stream of JSON data structures. The output format
aims to be machine-readable, and mostly
human-readable.

CD Bake Oven is a user-friendly, full-featured
CDR(W) burning facility with an intuitive and good
looking UI. It is built on top of the well known
'cdrecord', 'mkisofs', 'cdda2wav' and 'cdparanoia'.

rsnapshot is a filesystem snapshot utility based on rsync.
It makes it easy to make periodic snapshots of local
machines, and remote machines over ssh. It uses hard
links whenever possible, to greatly reduce the disk space
required.

Confstore is a configuration backup utility. It scans a system for all recognised configuration files and then stores them in a simple archive. It knows what to scan for by reading a definitions file. Confstore can also restore configuration from backup archives it has previously created.

Rsyncrypto allows you to encrypt a file or a
directory structure such that they can later be
synchronized to another machine using rsync. This
means that local changes to the plain text file
result in local changes to the cipher text file.
rsyncrypto compresses the plain text file prior to
encrypting it with gzip using the "rsyncable"
patch, which is available from the rsync sources.

REOBack Backup Solution (pronounced "Ray-o-back") is a simple backup solution designed for Linux users and system administrators. It is designed to be simple to set up, and easy to use. It is great as a quick solution for those who procrastinate about backups. It supports automatic full/incremental backups of files you define, remote backups via SCP, SMB, NFS, or FTP, as well as auto deletion of old backups.
