PhonoRipper is an easy to use, all-in-one GUI tool
for creating audio CDs from analog sources like
vinyl records. It uses Cdrdao for CD writing and
Normalize for volume normalization. Features
include a fully buffered WAV file recorder with
mixer and VU meter (supporting both ALSA and OSS
drivers), automatic detection of track borders,
an intuitive drag'n'drop CD writing interface
with CD-text support, CDDB queries of CD text data, and a WYSIWYG CD cover editor.

MP3c is a curses-based audio CD-to-MP3/OGG converter with CDDB support. It can be used in an interactive menu environment or a batch mode which lets you encode automatically. MP3c tries to find the most useful information in a CDDB entry, and even recognizes sampler CDs correctly. It is very configurable and can be used with every available encoder, ripper, and tag editor. It is available in different languages (currently English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and German).

Brasero (formerly known as Bonfire) is a
application to burn CDs and DVDs for the GNOME
desktop. It is designed to be as simple as
possible, and has some unique features to enable
users to create their discs easily and quickly.

somaplayer is music player for MP3, Ogg, wav,
audio CDs, MP3 streams, and Ogg streams. It is
able to use the appropriate sound drivers or
demons or to stream directly to an Icecast server
(Icecast2 or SHOUTcast) or to encode in MP3 and
Ogg Vorbis. It also acts as a sound daemon that is
able to accept connections from other somaplayers
or any other sound player (xmms, mpg123, and
others) thanks to a special wrapper.

Sonic-Rainbow is a Linux GUI multimedia player.
It plays DVDs, VCDs, and video files. It plays CDs, rips CDs to Ogg, MP3, FLAC, and WAV files, and has an Ogg, MP3, FLAC and WAV player, as well as a playlist editor and a TAG editor to create and modify MP3, Ogg, and FLAC file tags. HTTP is used to download and locally store CD Info from Freedb such that the CD player, ripper, Ogg player, FLAC Player, and MP3 player are able to display CD track and artist information. The GUI playlist editor creates playlists containing single Ogg, FLAC, or MP3 files and directories of Ogg, FLAC, or MP3 files. It provides support for FM radio cards if installed.

jAugment is a JINI-based, network-aware framework and set of initial applications for wearable computers and other computers with uncommon input/output-devices. It supports user interfaces from text-only to 3D.

IronGrip is a GTK+ frontend for audio CD ripping and encoding as WAV, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC. It supports CDDB lookup.

xfburn is easy to use burning software for the Xfce
desktop environment (but will work with others). It
uses libburn and libisofs as a backend. ISO files can
be burned, data composition created, discs
blanked, and DVD-RW media formatted and
deformatted. Common burning software features
not yet implemented are audio CD creation and
disc copying.

cdrtools DVD Extensions adds DVD support to cdrtools.

audio_burn is a commandline audio cd burning application written in C. It uses libaudioburn (also written in C) for all of the real work, which in turn uses several other Free Software packages. It accepts WAV, Ogg, and MP3 input files, decodes them, and (optionally) normalizes them before writing them to CD.

YaRET is a Perl script that automates the ripping, normalization, and encoding of CDs. It supports CDDB very well via the Perl Audio::CD module, and also can work with your favorite ripper/normalizer/encoder (e.g., cdparanoia, cdda2wav, normalize, etc.) It supports useful features like multiple concurrent encoders and an easy to use configuration file that lets you customize YaRET to your taste (such as file naming based on the CDDB information).

IRMP3 is a multimedia audio jukebox for Linux. IRMP3's strength is that it easily integrates into home, car, and mobile environments (where a keyboard/screen interface may not always be available). It supports several input and display devices such as infrared remote controls, LCD displays, network connections, and serial keypads. It includes a robust set of tools like alarms, sound environments, mixers, sleep functions, and more. It supports MP3 players and network-ready control & status monitoring, and includes a flexible, modularized source which allows functionality to be easily extended with user-developed code.

cd-discid is a backend utility for getting CDDB discid information for
a CD. It was originally designed for cdgrab (now abcde), but can be
used for any purpose requiring CDDB data. It has been developed with
attention to the CDDB specifications.

OggCarton is a free, open source home jukebox system that creates and indexes Ogg Vorbis and MP3 music files. It includes an integrated Web server.
