This version features a 45 minute full-featured orchestral score, privateer-like plot missions and bar patrons to talk to, polishing of the engine to be more user friendly, new 3D models and sounds, a more realistic physics-based flight engine, per-pixel lighting capability in the 3D engine, better trading and an upgraded interface, Wingmen for hire, and an autodocking feature.

Added unique rendered bases that have different times of day and a bartender that a player may chat with. News and bar tips were added, which actually affect the course of the game while the player is building up their starship. New starships and bases were added for the Aera and Rlaan races, so the player can trade with the enemy. Special anomalies and phenomena were added around black holes, along with mysterious aliens. A map can be accessed with shift-M.

This release of Vegastrike Space Sim allows players to engage in an RPG style sequence of combat, missions, and making money to upgrade their starships and become more powerful in the universe. Split screen action and duels are supported out of the box and allow players to quickly engage in coop gauntlets or fierce head-on-head duels.
