This release has moved to using ODE (Open Dynamics Engine) as its physics engine. The game should run much better on slower machines. Configuration files, an in-game menu system, and a start at some texturized graphics are all present now. The next release will focus only on gameplay and graphics.
Many 3D enhancements, including a 3D model of the player ship. Try cycling through camera views. There have been some speed enhancements that might help those with slower processors. Some particle effects have been added, and there are even more code cleanups.
SSC has been ported to Windows (XP/2000) and
configure/automake scripts have been added.
Additionally, some important speedups and many
internal code cleanups were made. The AI has been
tweaked, and there are better flocking
characteristics.
Gravity and black holes have been added. Additionally, the game gets harder as you finish each level. Major work has been done to eliminate inner loops and ensure optimum framerates.
