Sportwire contains the essential components to
translate an ANPA sports newswire feed into XML
format and then to read the XML into relational
tables. The story parser is extensible and can be
easily adapted. Parser classes included in this
release can parse scoreboards, game updates,
recaps and previews; it is just the components
needed to construct sports news websites using
ANPA news stories and a relational database. Also,
since the ANPA tagging scheme is not fully
normalized, the parser must use some heuristics to
match certain incoming news items with the
specific games.
