JavaLayer is a 100% Java library that decodes,
converts, and plays MP3 files in real time. It
does not require JMF. It supports MPEG 1/2 layer
1/2/3 formats.

This release improves VBRI VBR support. It also
fixes some bugs in the decoder. The license was
changed from the GPL to the LGPL. It has been
successfully tested under JRE 1.5 with CPU usage
below 1%.
XING VBR header frame support has been improved in Header.java. ID3v2 frames support has been improved (see the API), and some bugs have been fixed in the decoder.
In this release, the API was improved to let developers get MP3 bitrate, frame length and total time. Additional files (changes.txt, license.txt) are also included.
