The GNU plotutils package contains programs for plotting scientific data and a device-independent function library "libplot" for exporting 2-D vector graphics in many raster and vector file formats. It is written in C and can also do vector graphic animations.

This release adds SVG, PNG, and ReGIS (DEC's remote graphics instruction set) output drivers, Postscript-like compound paths, support for transparent backgrounds, better handling of curves, and lots of bugfixes. It can be linked with an extra libxmi.

CGM output is now supported, Plotutils is now based on libplot 3.0, which has new thread-safe C and C++ APIs, new functions have been added to libplot and libplotter for creating and manipulating PlotterParams objects, which store Plotter parameters, a new parameter, ROTATION, has been introduced (it applies to PCL, HP-GL, Fig, and PS Plotters), and a new scan-conversion library, called libxmi, can be optionally built and installed.
