dxr3Player is a lightweight command line DVD
player for Linux and the DXR3 (aka Hollywood+)
MPEG-2 decoder boards. It supports all major DVD
features, including menus, navigation, fast
forward and backward playback, subtitles, and
camera angle changes. The player is very
conservative on memory usage and tries very hard
(and mostly succeeds) to keep video and audio in
sync.

This version contains the various small changes
(both enhancements and bugfixes) that have
accumulated since the last release. There is now
support for 24-bit LPCM audio tracks. Menu button
highlights and subtitles can be adapted to
widescreen displays. The DVD tray is locked during
playback.

The program now has experimental support for Via's Unichrome chipset. The EXIT instruction is handled, root menu access can be forced, the state of DVDs can be saved and restored during playback, and there are three levels of the fast forward and backward speed.

DVD playback is now possible on any X Window display, while continuing to support the DXR3 board. Because of this there are now several Debian and RPM packages, so the package entries were removed from the release record. DVD ISO images and directories can be played back. Brightness, contrast and saturation can be controlled. DTS audio is passed through to the SPDIF output.

With this release, configuration settings can be stored in a file.
Complete DVDs can be dumped onto the hard disk and played back. The
language to use for audio and/or subtitles can be forced, as well as the
region the player "pretends" to be able to play. A fixed audio delay can
be specified.
